Hi everyone,

This might seem like a really random question, but does anybody have the Coptic text for "Happy Birthday"?

Thanks in advance.

GBU,
Mina

Hi everyone,

I know another coptic "Happy Birthday" song.
I don't have coptic fonts so I will write it in english:

"Nofri pe pek ehom misi.
Pamenreet (name of the person) nofri pe pek ehom misi.
Ekezmaroot ensok, khen pek ehom misi."

The tune is not the same as our usualy Happy birthday tune. But it is nice.

God bless.
In Christ,
Marianne

In the Name of our Loving Saviour. Amen.

I think the first one is the more popular one...although, i like the second one...simply b/c of the meaning.

Can someone provide an audio recording of one or both of the songs...i'm sure a lot of people want to learn them and share them with friends and family on their birthday.

Amen. Marenatha!
Lord, i am Yours, Save me.

Hi,

Unfortunatly, I never heard of any recording for this second version of "Happy Birthday".

I hope someone can. It would be sad if these little songs disapear. They are so cute!

Sorry for not being of much help.

In Christ,
Marianne

Agape,

I don't know if this is even remotely possible but i have an idea... Idea

Marianne, could you perhaps record them for us on your computer and then attach it to a post here on the network? It would be awesome if you could...i'm sure all of us would appreciate this act of love. Plus, that way the song(s) will never be lost and we all don't want that to happen...right? Laughing

Please consider...but if you don't want to..it's perfectly o.k...no pressure...seriously. Cool

Peace and Love,

I really have no objection to try, but this is if someone could tell me how to proceed.

Any help would be appreciated. Smile

Peace in Christ,
Marianne

Hello,
How about a word-for-word translation Smile (well almost word-4-word Smile because i'm not sure about the word "dear"... maybe someone has a suggestion):
-------
Sung to a girl:
nofri ehoou `mmici ne
nofri ehoou `mmici ne
nofri ehoou `mmici w
<name>
nofri ehoou `mmici ne

Example:

nofri ehoou `mmici ne
nofri ehoou `mmici ne
nofri ehoou `mmici w Maria
nofri ehoou `mmici ne

This literarly means:
Happy day of birth to you
Happy day of birth to you
Happy day of birth O Maria
Happy day of birth to you

(where "you" = "ne" => which is feminine)
To sing to a boy, just replace "ne" with "nak"; e.g.
nofri ehoou `mmici nak

Now how is it sung? Well try it like this.. Imagine we split up the english version into 5 parts, where each part is one musical note.. then similarly split up the Coptic. Sorry, I'm not a musician so i don't know a better way Smile

1st Line:
Happy (1) birth(2) day(3) to(4) you(5)
nofri (1) ehoou(2) em(3) mici(4) ne(5)

2nd Line (same division):
Happy (1) birth(2) day(3) to(4) you(5)
nofri (1) ehoou(2) em(3) mici(4) ne(5)

3rd Line:
Happy(1) birth(2) day(3) dear(4) Maria(5)
nofri(1) ehoou(2) emmici(3) O(4) Maria(5)

4th Line:
Happy(1) birth(2) day(3) to(4) you(5)
nofri (1) ehoou(2) em(3) mici(4) ne(5)
========================

But it's nice to see the other versions you guys listed.. because that means some people out there are singing Happy Birthday in Coptic! Smile

Marmoura (coptic_maria)!!! Welcome to Coptichymns.net!
Why don't u ask your brother to help you record nofri pe pek and download it on your computer after? I'm sure he'll know how to do it seeing how high tech he is and I've experienced it first hand Smile
Ask abouna youssef to sing it with you, the version you have is the one he taught us in all the birthdays Smile

God bless you habibty,
Mariam

Hi Mariam,

I did not know that abouna Youssef knows it! Tasoni Isis is the one who taught us this song years ago. Maybe after I'll be close to St-George, it will be easier to see abouna Youssef. Good idea. And.. I will PM you with another suggestion too Very Happy

Thank you for reminding me about my brother's programs. I honestly don't know the programs he used before. I have a new program now that Kalax helped me to instal. After finals, I will ask my brother if they are the same... but I doubt, as Sound Forge seems less complicated to what he used to tell me when he worked with you.

God bless.

In Christ,

Marianne
