is there a way you can convert .wma and .ram files to mp3 on a mac?

Hello,
I believe iTunes can convert *.wma files to MP3. If not, please see this good how-to:

As for *.ram files, those aren't even audio files. Typically, *.ram files are just pointers to RealAudio files elsewhere. They're just text files.
If you're wondering whether you can convert RealAudio using a Mac, the answer is no, as RealNetworks has kept the RealAudio format proprietary.

Actually, I came across a free program called ffmpegx that can convert any type of audio/music file in to any other type of audio/music file. I tested it and it works pretty well, but you'll have to play around with the settings. It's not the easiest thing to use, but it works.

It's completely free, but there's a prompt that comes up everytime one opens the program that asks for a donation. But, if you can deal with that, there are no restrictions.
