Hi people,

i'm desperately seeking help with this converting problem. Whenever i try to convert a .doc to a .pdf i get an error.
The problem is the arabic font "Traditional arabic", it cannot be embedded (no clue what that means lol). However, i have seen .pdf files containing this font.
I also succeeded to convert documents with the arabic using online pdf creators, but they cant handle the coptic and/or have limits concerning the amount of pages that can be converted.

This is really important, so if someobody knows a solution that would be fantastic Exclamation Smile

Hello,

I think Mac OS X can do this out of the box; PDF export is built into the operating system itself.

If you e-mail me the font and the document, I can try for you.

Otherwise, you might want to try OpenOffice, a free alternative to Microsoft Office. There is a Mac OS X, Windows, and Linux version that supports PDF export.

GBU,
ps

BTW, I've tried OpenOffice before (though I've never tried converting to pdf), and let me say, it's quite good! (especially for a *free* piece of software with similar functionality to the much more expensive MS Office).

Dear mmatt95,
Have you tried CutePDF? It worked wonders for me... I've tried many converters, including Adobe Distiller and JAWS PDF converter, but CutePDF was the only one that converted diagrams without mysteriously omitting some of the text.

You can download it from: http://www.cutepdf.com/Products/CutePDF/writer.asp ...it's free for non-commercial use, and doesn't limit the number of pages or place watermarks.

Just make sure you have Ghostscript installed as well... download this free from: http://www.cs.wisc.edu/~ghost/doc/AFPL/get853.htm

Hope it does the trick..

Regards,

George
