Ah, all the day long I am in grief over my pitiful self. Truly, I am a sinner, and because I am unable to overcome those sins which continue to live within me (in addition to being unable to establish a meaningful relationship with Him), I am unable to experience true happiness and soundness of mind and spirit. Ah, I am a sinner! I am a sinner! Pray for me! I cannot bear myself ... pray for me..

Take comfort in the knowledge that you are not the only one who endures such challenges. We are all joined by our common struggle to shed our sinful nature in this difficult and evil world.

The Lord bless and cause His face to shine upon you.

Peace Mike

Mate, don't ever forget that God's love for us is greater than any of our shortcomings. This in no way execuses the despicable sins that we knowingly or unknowingly commit, but to lose sight of how much God loves you is, in my book, the greatest of sins! The beauty of our faith is that we have a god who sympathises with our weak nature, because He himself walked our path before us and understands our weaknesses. Do not forget this!

Do not ever stop shedding tears for your iniquities my friend, and in the same measure, do not ever stop to think that God only accepts you if you somehow clean yourself. It is Christ who cleanses us, not we ourselves. Do not think of your struggle as something you must accomplish, in order to be with Christ. But rather, be with Christ in order to accomplish your struggle. Once He sees your sincerity, then He will grant you victory in the time He deems fit. Then He will reveal to you even more shameful sins, which were hidden before. And so on until the day He sends an angel for our souls. So long as we are honest in our struggle, and we persist in the way of holiness, God is faithful to accept us to Himself.

"Therefore I will look to the Lord, I will wait for the God of my salvation, my God will hear me.
Do not rejoice over me, my enemy; when I fall, I will arise; when I sit in darkness, the Lord will be a light to me." Micah 7:7-8

Contemplate on these verses my friend and never lose hope in the mercy of Christ.

"Wait on the Lord; be of good courage, and He shall strengthen your heart; wait, I say, on the Lord" Ps 27:14

The following has been very beneficial to me and I pray that it is also for you:

"In your obedience to God's commandments, never give up your struggle or constraint however you fail or whatever your temptations. For behind your vanquished soul stands Christ and in his hand the crown for your struggle. You are then responsible not for your success, but for your efforts" - Fr. Matta El-Meskeen
