On july 2nd i returned from lebanon to america , eager and weeping to go back . i love it there , the people the life , the love , my aunt rita .
i stayed in lebanon for 2 months , i traveled all over , i even went and slept 1 mile away from the israeli border for 4 days , in Bint jbiel . i was there , in the southern land of hiziballah , were all were muslims , all were militants , i even saw a 10 year old child holding an AK 47 walking down the street . i seriously think i not only got a really good taste of lebanon , i know enough and saw too much to be able to sincerly talk about lebanon with nothing less than my heart in the convo .
but im not here to talk endlessly , cuz i could talk alot , almost too much
just asking u guys to pray for my family who live 30 minutes away from the beruit airport , and also pray for all of lebanon and the israeli familys ,
this war does not have to happen . my people dont need to die , they were looking so foward to the summer .
God help us , forgive us , and hear ur worshippers in lebanon . the land of the worshippers . |

u know what pisses me off more then anything ..... how the U.S is keeping a close watch on this lebanese israeli conflict , not becuase theyre genuinly concerned for both countries ... but becuase of the oil....im hearing more concern about the oil prices that might go up , rather then the concern for human life . this pisses me off so bad , why does everything have to be about money . u guys serioulsy dont know , i was just in lebanon , and THE LAST THING THEY WANTED was another war ... almost every single day in lebanon i would hear conversations with people thanking god that the old civil war is over and the israelis pulled out in 2000 .

PLEASE PLPEASE PLEASE dont think israel is innocent in all of this ...if u do think this , i can give u a history lesson that will knock u on your butt . israel is Far FROM INNOCENT .

i know its a " waste " to have so much love for a country ....but i cant help but feel so sad and even cry for lebanon , u guys have no idea how distraught i am , i am stuck on the news , i havent even gone outside for more then 10 minutes , i am home , watching ... in disblelief that 2 weeks ago i was in MY country ....with my countrymen ... enjoying life ... my life .... in lebanon with all its history .. .. i think its really hard for u all to understand exactly why the lebanese love their country so much ... love their history so much .... i 2 would question my own people why they love lebanon so much ....they answered me saying ... go and see for yourself .... and i did .... from may 15 to july 2 ... i was there , i not only explore lebanon from the very top to the very very bottom .. , but i sat and ate and drank tea and coffee with the POOREST OF THE POOREST ... TO SOME OF THE RICHEST PEOPLE IN LEBANON ... ... AND WHEN I SAY POOR ,.... I MEAN very very poor , POOR IN WAYS THAT U WILL NEVER UNDERSTAND ... Keep praying Tony.
The situation in Lebanon and Gaza is astonishing, I hope this will pass quickly and that the families and country will recover.
It's frustrating because nobody outside is willing to act. Even with Lebanese Canadians dead, the Canadian government is still not condemning or even speaking critically of the Israeli attack (even though everyone of course jumps at the chance to criticize Hezbullah, Syria, Iran, etc.). The country doesn't deserve this massive collective punishment. |

israel claims its trying to kill the " hate " / terrorist org in lebanon .... hiziballah .... okay lets say they do destroy hiziballlah ..... ... do u think that will stop the arabs from hateing israel ? ... but the reason why i am so frustrated with hiziballah is becuase of their stupidity in their method of trying to get their soldiers back . becuase there was peace in southern lebanon !!!!! but then cuz of the stupid shebba farms land that israel still has , nasrallah ( leader of hiziballah ) wants every inch of lebanese land back to the lebanese .. which i support but pleaaseeeeeeeeee do it in a smarter way , the israeli army has brought lebanon back 20 years .. ... u guys have no idea what me and my lebanese friends have been going through ... we arent leaving our houses , just watching television ... in disbeleif ....
u guys have no idea how much hateeee i have for israel .... and for the american media .. for example .. the lebanese pm was makeing a speech and the lebanese pm was calm , and almost in tears , and asking his country men to stick together all muslims and christians to stick together and support one another .. and then fox news network ... said ... " IN A FIERY SPEECH TODAY FOUAD SINIORA ..." ............ and i was so angry cuz i was listening to the speech .. and there was nothing fiery about it .. and the ameirican media chooses to put words in the lebanese pm's mouth ..
this is a very passionate issue for me .. i really hate america , and i hate its media , i hate israel , and i am still for jesus christ .. but this situation is going to make me blow my brains out and take a soldier or 2 with me cuz i finally have my eyes open and its like damn .. everybody in america is just ignorant to the facts , just becuase we support israel ... means we have to twist our coverage just so the american families remain against lebanon and hiziballah ... .. u know what i really cant stand .. is PARTISIAN .. ... people on this site .. admins actually .. remain so loyal to a poltican just becuase of the name he represents .... If you mean Western Churches I think it's a bit divided. Some Christians, like the Anglican Church, have called for economic and academic sanctions against the Israeli government because of the occupation. Interesting to see the opinions on the occupation of South Africans who struggled against the Apartheid like Desmond Tutu. But then I still often hear of the crazed (and far more influential in the US) Christian Zionist movement which is a remarkably powerful lobby considering its brazen extremism. I'm not sure exactly how much clout they have, though it certainly seems like a lot with southern Republicans.
I would say that the blindingly inhumane military and diplomatic support that America (and now Canada) gives Israel extends far more broadly than that. Anyways, I think this has little to do with two kidnapped soldiers or a bunch of old Soviet missiles. |

amir , when i said christians , i meant mainly the christians in lebanon , ..... i made that statement to say in other words that Its not just muslims or hiziballah who dislike israel now even more , its the lebanese .... as a whole , .... this is purely politics and not religion .... its only a matter of religion when u go back to 1948 . . and when it comes to polotics , i have turned against israel , .... even before the bombings started . ... it took a trip to lebanon to see what cnn doesnt show ....my eyes are wide open .
amir u are right .... there is far more to this then 2 soldiers .
no one can understand the frustration all lebanese are going through ... u have no idea how proud we are of our country ... and then .... to see it bombed and leveled ... is just ..... man .... a nightmare .... |

Tony does the word "manipulation" mean anything to you? Dont you think you could find photos of israeli children in the same conditions?
Say the roles were reversed.. say hezbollah was the super power and israel a weak country, do you think israel would still be on the map today? or 10, 15, 20 years ago? Israel on the other hand could turn lebanon and the rest of the middle east into a giant ditch, but they're all still there... What they do want is to get rid of hezbollah, and it so happens that they operate out of lebanon.
The reason they're so harsh and violent whenever they attack someone is cause they can't afford to have a 1-for-1 war, there are much fewer israelis than arabs who want them gone, so if it was 1-for-1 you'd run out of israelis first.
You mentioned that the lebanese ppl didn't want a war... i dont think the israelis were looking forward to it either. What good is it gonna bring them?
Anyways, i just thought i'd even things out a little bit cause it seemed too one sided. |

arabs are dieing to fast to see they have a strong case at the UN . ( even though the UN is in americas pockets ) if the arab states united to show how israel is worth charging war crimes then their wouldent be a problem . dont beleive me ? . google the words " OPERATION GRAPES OF WRATH ." and tell me what u read . this is why people hate . now .

im for the longevity of human life wether it be muslim christian or jewish , im for the truth , im anti exploitation . and ive been to lebanon and ive slept on the lebanese and israeli border for 4 days ( on may 25 - 29th 2006 ) , i think i have the authority to say that my opinion about the matter holds merit .
most people dont know what life is like living under occupation . right now alexg .. ur in a safe place on the internet , rambling your moouth and opinion away on a topic and conflict u have no idea about . nor have u seen the people or heard the stories that ive heard , right now ur opinion holds no worth to me becuase u have no idea about what ur talking about . if u say israel has been innocent throughout this campaign , and through the whole history of lebanon and israeli conflict , then ill just pull out some facts that will blind ur eyes .... becuase the truth is something that people rarely see in canada , or usa or england .
most people on this site dont value freedom becuase they already are free , well imagine having that snatched away from u , and soldiers giving u curfews , and constant bombardment and having your own home taken away .while suffering humilations and massacers . to mention the VERY LEAST OF IT ! ( im talking about the israeli occupation that lasted for 18years of course ) .

( for the record , im a liberal ) ur only getting half the story with the AMERICAN news media ... and even that small half is twisted . ... i actually have seen proof of how they twisted up facts to suit their secret agendas .... thank god i know the lebanese language .

despite the documented proof that israel was preparing for this war before the soldier was captured , we will still discuss . israel was prepared and ready , the only thing it awaited was the spark . the reason hezeballah never gave its weapons was becuase they knew of this . so in my opinion . hezeballah is the real defender .

Let's try not to internalize this conflict: nazi comparisons, calling someone blind and deaf. Begad, these kind of posts are getting very peurile.
Alex- you raise some good points. But in my humble opinion, it's difficult to deny that what Israel is doing now, just like in 1982, is massively increasing the threat of terrorism by boosting recruitment and support for militant resistance. It's what Israel does best: use a sketchy pretext to launch a disproportionate response, tell the world "I told you so" once there are predictable terrorist reprisals which barely match the extent of their own violence, and then openly complain to the West that they have no partner in peace.
Regardless of anyone's stand on the topic, the violence on both sides is detrimental to innocent civilians more than anyone else. Let's pray that this crisis is mollified and that the holy land finally sees peace.
Tony and anyone else- if you want to channel your passion for this issue into something productive, write or call your senator/ representative and tell them how you feel about the issue and their response (or lack thereof). Or anyone in Canada can easily write to your MP, Stephen Harper (Prime Minister) or Peter Mackay (Minister of Foriegn Affairs). |

It hurts me to hear you talking like this whatever nasrallah says doesnt necessarily show his agenda. hizbollah is evil they are ruining lebanon and they are causing alot of problems i agree with you and they are the agressor but Hizbollah are causing all of the problems in lebanon. .. samir geagea ? , ur labeling that murderer and his " army " the protectors of lebanon ? .... well hmmmm , ive been watching the news lately ..... WHAT THE HELL HAVE THEY PROTECTED ? ... HIZIBALLAH are the only ones strikeing back against israel ! hiziballah drove the israelis out of lebanon ( not the LF ! ) they freed our country ! they gave back lebanon back to the lebanese !
id rather choose GENERAL AOUN over geagea , but u out of all people chris should know that almost all offical poloticians in lebanon are puppets and 2faced and bad .
everyone knows the polotics in lebanon are screwed up .
listen , true i hate what is happeneing to my country right now by israel and i wish nasrallah hadnt taken those soldiers , but his intentions where for the benifit of the lebanese families . , nasrallah said that israels reaction to the stolen soldiers suprised him , .... after all , remember that incident not 2 long ago , when hiziballah handed back 2 dead israeli soldier body and a bussiness man , for 300 lebanese prisioners in israel . so takeing israelis for exchange of lebanese prisioners seems like a pattern that has been working ,im not saying its okay to kidnap soldiers , but if u look at the situation from hiziballahs point of view , useing israeli soldiers as bargaining chips is the best way to bring back POWS . id like to see more negotiateing for prisioners , not bomb the hell out of a country to the freaking stone age . this war is about more then 2 kidnapped soldiers .
look israel is far far from innocent
their " practiceing self defense " cry , is false , becuase theyre retaliation to the kidnappings are definelty not measured .
u dont go bombing a country killing 400 cilivians , cuz 2 soldiers are kidnapped . this whole conflict proves that the UN is useless and diplomacy is dead .
its really our ability to excersise diplomacy that makes us men . |

they killed 54 in cana , ....all civilians . not one hiziballah guy . ... this is a replica incident of what happened in canaa in 96 .
see its diffrent , i actually see the dead bodies and the floods of blood and the intestines of 1 year old babies on television , while u guys see this sugar coated image of the war . ur all blind to the heart of the matter . bush claimed he assembled the most reliable negotiating team in the history of the US to go to the mideast for talks for a cease fire , they left the mid east with more blood shed , and theyre heads down , sipping their starbucks coffee ....
god these events get me sooo angry ,
i hope my lebanese brothers BURN THE UN BUILDING TO THE GROUND IN BERUIT AND GAZA BY THE PALISTINIANS . .
