Hi everyone, I'm looking for 2 books that exist in Arabic, but want to know if they have been translated to English:

1) El kharida el nafissa (talks about Coptic History)
2) Alla'ale Al nafissa (talks about Coptic Rites)

If any of you know of an English version of it, and where we can get it, that would be very much appreciated!

Agape Pavly,

These books don't seem to be available in English.

Albier (HCOC) refer's to them quit often. They are extremely important books aimed at the History of the hymns and rites of the Church. They also cast important insight on the circumstances of the Church at that time etc...these books are widely beneficial for all areas of Church study.

I will ask Albier if he can provide more information about these books. I'll let you know.

Pray, we got a difficult recording today (hint: its a rare hymn). Wink

Peace and Love,
a

Hi,

I just confirmed w/ Albier that these books are not translated in English..same w/ Ibn Kabar's book.

These books are available for purchase at the ‘Maktaba al-Ma3haba.

The inside on the hymn we recorded today will have to wait..i'm not at liberty to mention. It will be your surprise in the HCOC's next production. "Good things come to those who wait on the Lord"

peace and love,
a

Kalax, I've heard one of the 2 books mentioned in my post was recently translated (I think it's "El kharida el nafissa").

Also, you're saying Ibn Kabar's book isn't translated, but I do have its English version! It's called "The Collection of Safey Ibn Al-Assal." However, it says it's a preliminary translation, done by Dr William A. Hanna.

wow, i'm confused!

Is this summery version of Ibn kabars work the same book as "The Collection of Safey Ibn Al-Assal"???

Or, is this English translation the FULL BOOK(S) of Ibn kabar?

Pavly, where did you get the English of Ibn kabars book? I would like to read it.

Christ, Who fasted for us, save us!

+Iryny nem `hmot ,

Pavly, I think at least one of these books is made reference to in this book (check the intro pages), but I don't know if that's enough to satisfy your search...click here

Please pray for me.

Kalax, I'll make a deal with you which might make Mourad happy Smile
What about I send you the english preliminary version of Ibn Kabar's book in exchange of the rare hymn... muahahaha ")

On a serious note, I can attach the book to this thread, but I think it's copyrighted (although I found it on one of the many Coptic sites on the Internet...). Is it permitted?

I asked again one of our servants about "El kharida el nafissa" and he told me the English version is available, and that an order has been placed to get it from Egypt. (??)

hey, the translation dr william hanna did was a full translation of book 1 by ibn kabar. Part 2 has yet to be translated... it apparently contains all the interesting things such as the history of the theotokiat originating at the abu makar monastery and the year the judas circuit was instituted.

Agape,

I'm not sure if you guys know about this, although it's been on the net for a long time, the preliminary translations by William Hanna of both Ibn Kabar and Ibn Al-Assal are available here:

http://www.coptic.net/public/IbnKabar/ibn_kabar.pdf
http://www.zeitun-eg.org/ASSAL_AL.pdf

Please read with caution.
