Aghapy,
You may like HCOC servant Deacon Albier Mikhail's DSB. It has an English Table of Contents. So, it's easy to find hymns for English speakers. The rest of the DSB is in Coptic and Arabic. However, all the rites have been translated into English and uploaded to the HCOC site.
oh, there's no doubt that this book is complete and accurate AND updated with the latest decisions of the Holy Synod.

The Rite's:

Oh no, it has English table of contents and pages. It is REALLY easy to navigate through the book. It's simply GREAT! lol also if you need to read the arabic, just post the hymn in coptic and the page number..and me or anyone that can read Arabic with that book will translate it for you. |

I'll believe it when I see it; they could at least publish up dates concerning these projects.
Anyways...back to my 12 different agpeyas, 6 psalmodies, 5 euchologians... all with broken English.

We are very close to publishing the Deacons' service book.
We are putting the finishing touches on it, and then it will be reviewed by H.G. Bishop Youssef and then sent to the publisher.
Currently, there are 2 books are the publisher:
+ 2nd Edition of the Liturgy book.
+ 1st Edition of the distribution melodies book.
These will be available very soon. |

The 2nd edition of the Liturgy book is available for ordering as well as the 1st edition of the melodies book.
The Service of the Deacons book is now with His Grace Bishop Youssef for final proofing and within the next few weeks it will be sent over to Egypt to the publisher to be made. God willing it will be coming out very soon! |

This is the first time I've visited in a while-- nice to see this thread resurface.
As Overgrownegyptian (Andrew) and Gargousa (Gerges) said, the book is in its final stages currently...
I know that I said this a few years back, but this is the read thing now. It was (unfortunate for us) placed second-in-priority to the Second Ed of the Diocese Liturgy book, which is now printed and for sale.
That said, the Service of the Deacons should only have another few weeks-month until it gets back from final review, then one last proof for table of contents cleaning, preface, appendiceal and index insertion, and an overall style proof...
I'll post back as soon as I've got more info regarding a time frame.
Regarding what's in it, it's basically 4 books combined into one (i.e., liturgy book, complete book of rites, complete tamgeed book, complete khidmat al-shamaas)-- all well-translated and thoughtfully organized. Three languages throughout (Coptic, non broken English, and Arabic). Primary language of the book (i.e., language of the Rites) is English, but that said, every single hymn is presented in all three languages (even Ya kool al sefoof for the Resurrection).
- Complete hymns for the offering of morning and evening incense, all three divine liturgies
- Complete hymns for all seasons, fasts/feasts, etc
- Extensive Rites for Agpeya, Tasbeha, offering of morning/evening incense, liturgies, all fasts/feast of the year, Holy week, Tamgeed, all special occasions (e.g., ordinations, funerals, weddings, baptisms, etc)
- A section for preparatory prayers for deacons while going to church and their instructions
- The hymns for all of the fasts/feasts are organized by Coptic month, rather than arranged like Albeir's book... This way the taqs for the coptic month can be appreciated and the flow of the book is more logical and organized.
Anyway, there's much more to it...
Please pray for this project and we'll keep you all posted.
your bro

Just to give you an idea of the magnitute of this work, the book is over 600 pages, and we've been working on this project for about 10 years (or so it seems), so you can imagine the amount of work put in it.
It contains the rites and hymns of all the sacraments, and even prayers like: funerals, engagements, rite of receiving a new priest, first bathing, and much more. |

His Grace Bishop Youssef is extremely busy. I actually emailed him about 2 weeks ago and just this past weekend I saw His Grace Bishop Youssef and he told me he hasn't checked his email for 2 weeks, so he is really quite busy. God willing when I see him tomorrow night I will ask him what's the progress and I will get back to you. God willing it won't be much longer
God bless you. |

Update:
The Service of the Deacons is literally in its final stretch... It's being reviewed by one of the editors and will be sent to HGBY in about a day or so for his final and official review/stamp/blessing. At that point, it's off to Egypt for print.
We ended up adding ALL of the doxologies and verses of the cymbals for all of the annual/standard days, as well as all fasts/feasts: although it delayed us about 10 days or so, it was worth the wait, no doubt.
We're down to days/weeks, not months/years.
Pray for the completion of this project. |

I can't wait for this book to come out! Just for clarification, it says that the book will have
| Quote: |
- Extensive Rites for Agpeya, Tasbeha, offering of morning/evening incense, liturgies, all fasts/feast of the year, Holy week, Tamgeed, all special occasions (e.g., ordinations, funerals, weddings, baptisms, etc)
|
So the book will just have the Rites, or will it contain the actual services, im guessing not Holy week and the agbeya, cause that would make it a 234235656856 page book lol but yea thanks in advance and God bless your service! |

So would it be safe to say it would be done in a couple of weeks? Like ready to buy and ship? |

it would NOT be safe to say that.
the book will likely be at the printer within a few weeks. from that point, printing takes some time-- i will update the forum with a more solid estimate when one becomes apparent. |
