Hey everyone! Today during the mass we said Pi Nishti.
When do we say it exactly? Or is it just abouna's choice to say it or not? |

It is chanted after the deacon says 'let those who read' (neotosh). When the deacon says that, the priest can say 'owoh nai nem' then after this, the deacon responds with tobv ejen nenyoti. After this, the hymn evshees is chanted. Finally, after this, Pinishti may be said. There are 2 versions, one that is longer that is typically said with the Liturgy of St. Cyril. The deacon usually chooses to say it, but it's up to Abouna in regards to abouna having time. Like technically it's the deacon's choice, but since it does take time, you SHOULD ask abouna. Not a must though.
I hope this helped |

Really a nice hymn to learn, very easy. Even if u dont no coptic, you can practice and learn it in english-coptic, it's only the saints names. |

Pinishti is a beautiful hymn but we are only supposed to say it on day's that commemorate any of the saints listed in the hymn. otherwise, it is not really supposed to be said any other time. |

To be honest, I thought that was the reason but I wasn't sure... It would make more sense that way actually. |

No, not true. Pinishti is said anytime. It should be said during every liturgy, but most churches say it when one of the saints mentioned has a feast on that day. |

Let me clarify what I should have said. It is true that it can be said annually but at the discretion of the priest (if there's time is the most common issue) but most churches say it when there's a feast for a saint listed in the hymn. thank you for clarifying what I should have said. |
