The Journey of Life

Life is a journey where God takes us from one place to another. The Coptic Mission has been home to servants from all over the world; people coming to serve both long and short term. The mission treasures these people who offered their life and heart to the Lord. Two of these great servants who blessed the mission in Kenya for the past eleven years are Fr. Moses and his wife Dr. Aida. God used them to build the foundation for the mission in Africa.

New Land for the Mission

Just as the Lord worked in the days of Moses, He is also working today. The Coptic Mission has been offered several plots of land in the past month from different people who saw that the Lord was leading them to donate their land for the service of the Coptic Mission in Kenya.

Kibera, Signs of Change

I can't explain to you the joy we felt to see God at work in these men, to see the beginnings of change.  We took the bus home that night, knowing that God was with us and feeling truly loved and supported by Him.

A Growing Vision for the Mission

"God is blessing the mission's current services tremendously"

Bishop Paul and a group of about ten missionaries from around the world met in order to pray and discuss the growing needs and a new vision for the Coptic Mission in Africa.  Most of the missionaries at this meeting had recently decided to leave their countries in order to commit long term to the mission and contribute to the mission’s growing needs.  The group was motivated by Bishop Paul’s words of encouragement and all agreed that God is blessing the mission’s current services tremendously, and now He also has something new and big in store for the mission, which is why He has called this large group to work together at this point in time.  Sticking to the vision of the Coptic Mission (which can be found on the website under “About Us”), the following areas were discussed:

Nigeria Missionary Trip - Summer 2008

"Seek the Promised Land - the heaven on earth in which our LOrd Jesus wants us to live"

These obstacles could be anything from pride in ourselves to distrust in the Lord. Just as the children of Israel would fight many battles after overcoming the great Jordan River, we should also expect to fight many battles against the enemy.

The Golden Voice of St. John Chrysostom

Excerpt from "On Living Simply"

“We who are disciples of Christ claim that our purpose on earth is to lay up treasures in heaven.  But our actions often contradict our words.  Many Christians build for themselves fine houses, lay out splendid gardens, construct bathhouses, and buy fields.  It is small wonder, then, that many non-believers refuse to believe what we say.  “If their eyes are set on mansions in heaven,” they ask, “why are they building mansions on earth?  If they put their words into practice, they would give away their riches and live in simple huts.”  So these non-believers conclude that we do not sincerely believe in the religion we profess; and as a result they refuse to take this religion seriously.  You may say that the words of Christ on these matters are too hard for you to follow; and that while your spirit is willing, your flesh is weak.  My answer is that the judgment of the non-believers about you is more accurate than your judgment of yourself.  While the non-believers accuse us of hypocrisy, many of us should plead guilty. “
